GDPR & Data Protection

How we handle personal data, the lawful bases we rely on, and how to exercise your rights.

Who we are

  • SchoolTech supplies charging, storage and classroom technology to schools. For the purposes of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), SchoolTech is the data controller for personal data collected through this website and our sales process.

What data we collect

  • Contact details you submit through enquiry, pricing and demo request forms: name, school or organisation, email address, phone number and your message.
  • Order and account information needed to fulfil quotes, deliveries and warranty claims.
  • Basic technical data such as IP address, browser type and pages visited, used to keep the site secure and improve it.

Lawful bases for processing

  • Contract: to prepare quotes, fulfil orders and provide support and warranty services.
  • Legitimate interests: to respond to enquiries, improve our products and protect our systems.
  • Consent: where you opt in to marketing communications. You can withdraw consent at any time.
  • Legal obligation: where retention is required by tax, accounting or consumer law.

How long we keep it

  • Enquiry and lead data is retained for up to 24 months from your last interaction with us.
  • Order, invoice and warranty records are retained for seven years to meet legal and accounting obligations.
  • You can ask us to delete data earlier where no legal obligation requires us to keep it.

Sharing and transfers

  • We share data only with service providers who help us operate: hosting, email, CRM and freight partners, each bound by confidentiality and data protection terms.
  • We never sell personal data.
  • Where data is transferred outside the EEA or UK, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses.

Your rights

  • Access a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Rectify data that is inaccurate or incomplete.
  • Erase your data where there is no overriding legal basis to retain it.
  • Restrict or object to processing, including direct marketing.
  • Portability: receive your data in a structured, commonly used format.
  • Lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.

Security

  • Data is stored on access-controlled, encrypted infrastructure. Access is limited to staff who need it, and we review permissions regularly.
